Minutes of Business Meeting

The business meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Vice-President Steve Grenot.

Officers attending: Secretary Chip Borona.

Members: Jerry Dupont, Banks Edwards, Sean O’Brian and Charles Tucker.

There were no guests in attendance.

 

I. Reading of the Minutes

A. The minutes of the previous meeting July 7th were read by Secretary Chip Borona.

a.   The approval of the minutes were moved by Banks, seconded by Jerry and approved by the membership.

 

II. Treasurer’s Report

A.     The Treasurer’s report was emailed to the club by Bill Little reporting that the current balance remained unchanged at $486.79.

a.       The approval of the report was moved by Charles, seconded by Banks and approved by the membership.

 

III. Announcements

A.     The next business meeting will be held at 6:30PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Tuesday October 6th 2015.

a.       Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, then to stay after the meeting to run trains.

b.      Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

B.     There will no run session because of the Club’s participation at the Pensacola Interstate Fair.   

C.     Update on Reed Ostrander

a.       Reed is now home and working on regaining his strength.

b.      Reed may need a ride to the Dothan Train Show depending on his circumstances.  It was discussed who could pick him on Saturday morning and return him home in the evening. Several members expressed willingness to do so. This will be confirmed as we get closer to the time of the Show.

IV. Old Business

A.     Status of the roundhouse module construction.

a.       Banks and Jerry have installed wiring for the mainline tracks.  The plan is to have the mainlines functional for the Fair with the module populated with trains and cars.  The buildings will be placed on the module and information “tent cards” placed to explain to the general public the various facilities.

     B.     Train Show Updates

a.       The table below list the current members committed to the Wiregrass Model Railroad Show & Sale at Dothan AL, Friday Sept. 18th to Sunday Sept. 20th.

                                                               i.      Rick confirmed that DJ can assist on Friday and Sunday.

                                                             ii.       Right now the size of the layout is 12’ x 20’. We could go larger depending on the total number of people at the time of set-up.

b.   Charles has confirmed he will be supporting the Flomaton Railroad Junction Day on Saturday September 26th 2015 and will provide a 4x8 Christmas layout.

                                                               i.      Chip will contact Tippy Wagner (251-296-9055) to inform him of the good news.

                                                             ii.      Chip was informed that the N-scale Division could not support us because of other commitments they had.

d.   Pensacola Interstate Fair

                                                               i.      Thursday, October 22 to Sunday, November 1

                                                             ii.      Set-up; Sunday, October 18 (time 1PM)

                                                            iii.      Run Times: Weekdays (4pm to 10pm) ~ Weekends (10am to 10pm)

                                                           iv.      Chip will verify with the Fair parking passes and insure we can get into the building on Sunday.

 

e.    Arrangements will be needed to be made to pick up Reed’s modules and other Club items.

                                                               i.      In discussion with Reed, Chip suggested going to Reed’s on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) to pick up the modules.  Chip asked if there was anyone else who would want to go.  Several members expressed interest in doing so.  A separate email to the members will finalize the plans

 

f.     Reed still needs to be contacted regarding the electrical plugs he has to complete the wiring of the Engine Service Module.

 

V. New Business

A.        Presentation subject for September meeting.

a.       Jerry has re-scheduled his workshop on installing decoders.

B.        With the current roster of active members at 9, there was a discussion of what could be done to raise awareness of the Club in an effort to boost membership.  Some suggestions were :

a.       Outreaches to local Church youth groups

b.      One day event at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital

c.       Set up small storefront display for Pensacola Gallery Night

 

VI. Club Welfare

A.     Nothing to report.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:11 PM.
