Minutes of the Business Meeting

of October 5, 2010

 

I. The business meeting was called to order at 6:37 PM by President Ron Hartman.

Members attending: President Ron Hartman, Vice-president Steve Grenot, Treasurer Dennis McDermott, Secretary Reed Ostrander, Members: Chip Borona, Banks Edwards, Bill Little, Deontae Lymons, Jackie Nelson. Guest: Tim Beers and his son Cody.

            A. Announcements

1. There will be a Club work session on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1:00PM at 1230 Southern Oaks Road in Cantonment. Ask the president or secretary for directions if you need them. All that is needed is some trailer unloading help.

2. There will be a swap meet at the HO club in Milton at the old train station on Saturday, Oct. 9, ‘10 from 8:00AM to 10:00AM. All are welcome. Directions are available at Trains by Johnson’s.

B. Minutes of the previous meeting of September 7, 2010 were read by Secretary Reed Ostrander.

                        1. Banks moved acceptance and was seconded by Bill.

                                    a. The minutes were accepted as corrected.

                                    b. A corrected version of the minutes is attached.

            C. The treasurer’s report was presented by Dennis McDermott

                        1. As of this date there is $731.45 in the treasury.

                                    a. The Club insurance premium of $318.30 was paid as well as other bills.

                                    a.  Reed moved acceptance, seconded by Bill.

                                                1) The report was accepted as presented.

            D. Old Business

1. Dennis pointed out that members responsible for towing the trailer to shows should make a concerted effort to check tires, bearings, lights and other pertinent equipment before hitting the road.

                        2. Ron noted that we received $100.00 from the Dothan Wire Grass train show.

                        3. We will start setting up at the Interstate Fair on Sunday the 17th at 1:00PM.

a. The fair opens on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 4:00 PM. Weekday hours are 4-10:00PM and week ends 10:00AM to 10:00PM.

b. Tear down will be on Sunday, Oct. 31 as early as you can make it after 10:00AM.

c. Ron will get parking passes. Members who help set-up will have first call on the parking passes.

                                    d. Fair attendees

                                                1) All days: Ron, Reed, Dennis, Bob

2) Weekends and some evenings: Steve, Chip, Bill, Deontae, Jackie

            E. New Business

1. Reed made a motion to purchase two new radial tires for the trailer after Jan.1,

                        2011. Bill seconded the motion.

                                    a) The motion passed after discussion.

2. Reed noted that he had two pieces of Homosote available for module construction.

                        3. Steve announced that we would begin working on the clubhouse on

                        Nov. 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM.

4. Reed made a motion to purchase train sets rather than contribute money to the Marines Toys for Tots drive. The motion was seconded by Deontae.

                                    a) The motion passed after discussion.

                                    b) Each train set will cost $38.00.

c) The following members agreed to purchase the listed number of train sets (total 14);

                                d) Please get your money in to Dennis as soon as possible. The purchase has to be made by October 29, 2010.

5. Reed noted that Dan Hayden of Pace has a nice layout and is interested in having new members join him once a month to operate at 6:30PM. The layout is set in the Milwaukee area and includes a “beer line” subdivision and 3 railroads (Milwaukee, Chicago and Northwestern and the Burlington) serving Necedah, WI and St. Paul, MN.

a) Reed will send out an email when the next meeting is scheduled. It will be either the second, third or fourth Thursday of the month, usually the fourth.

            F. The meeting was adjourned at 7:41PM
