Minutes of the Business Meeting

of November 10, 2015

 

The business meeting was called to order at 6:27 PM by President Reed Ostrander.

Officers attending: Treasurer Bill Little, Secretary Chip Borona.  Members: Jerry Dupont, Banks Edwards, Sean O'Brien, Rick Simmons.  There were no guests in attendance.

 

I. Reading of the Minutes

A. The minutes of the previous meeting October 6th were read by Secretary Chip Borona.

a.   The approval of the minutes were moved by Banks, seconded by Rick and approved by the membership.

 

II. Treasurer’s Report

A.     The Treasurer’s report was read to the club by Bill Little reporting that the current balance was approximately $165 plus $37 in the donation jar and $30 from donation collected at the Interstate Fair for a total of $232.

a.      The approval of the report was moved by Banks, seconded by Rick and approved by the membership.

 

III. Announcements

A.     The next business meeting will be held at 6:30PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Tuesday December 1st 2015.

a.       Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, then to stay after the meeting to run trains.  Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

B.     The next run session will be at Bill’s Train Shed, Tuesday November 17th at 6:00 PM.

a.       Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, before running trains. Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

b.      Reed will not be in attendance for the December meeting.  He is scheduled to have his operation during that time in Tallahassee.

c.       Banks announced that he will not be in attendance for the December meeting either.

 

IV. Old Business

A.     Pensacola Train Show hosted by the PMRC N-Scale Division will be Saturday November 21st and Sunday the 22nd at the Hadji Shrine Temple.

a.    Setup is on Friday November 20th 12 noon.

b.   Take down will be on Sunday November 22 at 4:00 PM.

c.    Reed presented a maximum size and a smaller size layout plan which would be dependent on weather conditions. The Engine Service Module would be used if rain is not forecasted for the Friday & Sunday.

d.   The Engine Service Modules will be transported by pickup truck wrapped in shipping blankets.

e.    Member attendance for the show was taken and presented in Table 1 below.

B.     Christmas Marine Corp Toys for Tots Drive.

a.    Bill has found Train Starter Sets on the internet that members can purchase for $55 each.

b.   Bill will take payments from the members, order the sets and deliver to the Marines.

C.     NAS Children’s Christmas Party.

a.    Sean has made contact with the organizers, but did not have any new news to report.

b.   We will be using Charles 4x8 Christmas layout for fast setup and take down

D.     Status of the Engine Service Module construction.

a.       There will be a work session on Friday 13Nov15 at Bill’s Train Shed starting at 2:00PM

E.      Yearly Club Elections

a.    The members discussed that since there were no new nominations and the current slate of Officers would remain the same, the membership elected the officers by acclamation.


V. New Business

A.     Club Dues Increase

a.       The members discussed several options of raising the current dues of $10/month

b.      Bill made the motion to drop the option of paying the dues one lump sum at the beginning of the year. Dues would be set at $10/month ($120/year) whether paid in one lump sum or  monthly.

c.       Banks seconded the motion and was approved by the membership.

B.     Spring Activities

a.       A membership drive was discussed.

b.      Suggestions included teaming up with the Boy Scouts for the Railroading Merit Badge and offering a “Make It and Take It” railroad  workshop at Trains by Johnson or Bobe’s Hobby House

c.        

VI. Club Welfare

a.       There was nothing to report regarding Club Welfare.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
