Minutes of the Business Meeting
of July 11, 2017

 

The business meeting was called to order at 6:25 PM by President Reed Ostrander.

 

Officers attending were President Reed Ostrander, Vice-President Steve Grenot, Secretary Chip Borona and Treasurer Bill Little. Members attending were Howard Cowgill, Jerry Dupont, Banks Edwards and Rick Simmons.

 

I. Reading of the Minutes

A. The minutes of last month’s meeting were read by Chip.

1. Steve made a motion to accept the minutes, Jerry seconded and the minutes were approved by the membership.

 

II. Treasurer’s Report

A.     The Treasurer’s report was read to the club by Bill reporting that the current balance is $997.65.

1.       Banks made a motion to accept the Treasure’s Report, Jerry seconded and the report was approved by the membership.

 

III. Announcements

A.     The next Business Meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at the Clubhouse on Tuesday

August 1st 2017. Members can run trains before and after the meeting.

B.     The 1st Run Session will be held at 6:00pm at the Clubhouse on July 18th 2017.

C.     The 2nd Run Session will be held at 6:00pm at Jerry’s Train Room on July 25th 2017.

At the monthly business meeting and run sessions Bill provides hot dogs & hamburgers with all the trimmings. You can also bring your own food to grill, a cover dish or desert. There will be drinks or BYOB. Members can arrive at 5:30 pm to grill and eat dinner. Please park and use the gate on the side street. Disabled members can use the gate at the front of the house.

 

All members are encouraged to RSVP the Host so they can anticipate the headcount.

 

D.     Tallahassee Train Show Review

a.       Derailments were occurring at the eastbound edge of the Bridge Module

1)      The solution will require the rails to be re-laid.

b.       The Show did provide $50 which went directly to Bill Little for gas.

 

IV. Old Business

A.     Storage for Roundhouse Module

1.       Bill offered his out-building which is being insulated and dry walled.

2.       Chip offered his garage which has a dehumidifier running 24/7.

B.     Temporary movement of trailer to Jerry’s to allow access to Bridge and other modules

C.     27th Annual Wiregrass Model Railroad Show

1.       Location - National Peanut Festival

Dothan, Alabama

2.       Dates

a.       Set-up on noon, Friday September 15th

b.       Show dates Saturday September16 and Sunday September 17th

3.       Attendees:

a.       Jerry, Bill, Reed, Rick & Chip

4.       Layout coordinator will be Reed

5.       Size of layout TBD 

6.       Load master

a.       Bill can bring the trailer over on Friday

b.       Need to confirm if Sean can bring the trailer back

7.       Hotel arrangements are each Club members responsibility

D.     Flomaton Railroad Junction Day

1.       Set-up on Friday September 22nd

2.       Show date Saturday September 23rd  

3.       Take-down right at end of show

E.      Annual review of Club accounts is still outstanding.

 

V. New Business

A.     Pensacola Interstate Fair 2017

a.       Start date October 19th and ends on October 28th

b.       Layout set-up on Sunday October 15th through 18th

c.       The Club will be using the roundhouse modules

d.       Reed will prepare a run schedule

B.     Pensacola RailFest 2017

a.       Location will be at the Haji Shrine West 9 Mile Road

b.       Start date Saturday December 2nd through Sunday 3rd

c.       Layout set-up on Friday, December 1st

C.     NAS Children’s Christmas show

a.       Sean is the point of contact with the Navy

b.       Set-up Charles 4x8

c.       Date is TBD

D.     Alger-Sullivan Historical Society private tour

a.       Located in Century FL

b.       Chip proposed scheduling a private tour of the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society

c.       Suggest the Spring 2018 would be a good time as activities are low and temperatures are more moderate.

                                                               i.      May is their annual one day “Sawmill Days” Festival.

d.       The Historical Society is also located within the Alger–Sullivan Lumber Company Residential Historic District.

 

VI. Club Welfare

A.     The club had nothing to report.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
