Minutes of the Business Meeting

 January 5, 2014

 

The business meeting was called to order at 6:34 PM by President Reed Ostrander.

Officers attending: Vice President Steve Grenot, Treasurer Bill Little, Secretary Chip Borona.

Members: Banks Edward, Sean O’Brian, Jerry Dupont, Charles Tucker and Rick Simmons.

 

I. Reading of the Minutes

A. The Minutes of the previous meeting December 1st, were read by Secretary Chip Borona.

a.   The approval of the minutes were moved by Banks, seconded by Jerry and approved by the membership.

 

II. Treasurer’s Report

A.     The Treasurer’s report was not available at the time of the meeting. Bill Little promised that he would send out an email with the current balance.

a.       Banks moved that this procedure be accepted, Rick seconded and approved by the membership.

b.      As of 6-Jan-15there is $725.95in the treasury.

B.     Reed reported that the 2014 Hadji Train Show was a good show with a good showing of clubs and vendors. But a lack of public participation resulted in a loss of money by PMRC. The HO Division contributed $250 and made back only $166 or a loss of $84.

a.       A lack of advertising both nationally (through the NMRA and magazines) and locally (Pensacola News Journal and WEAR-TV) was noticed contributed to a lower public turn out,

C.     Member dues are now due

a.       A savings of $20 can be realized if members do a yearly payment of $100 by April 1st .

 

III. Announcements

A.     The next business meeting will be held at 6:30PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Monday February 2nd 2015.

a.       Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, then to stay after the meeting to run trains.

b.      Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

B.     The next run sessions will be at:

a.       Bill’s Train Shed, Monday January 19th at 6:00 PM.

                                                         i.      Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, before running trains.

                                                       ii.      Bill will leave the gate on the side street open

b.      Marie’s (Steve Grenot hosting), January 26th at 6:30 PM.

C.     Foley Train Show is scheduled for March 20 to 22.

D.     Reed will send out an email regarding the start of the construction of the 2x4 Mine Extension at Jerry’s home.


IV. Old Business

      A.     Campfire Kids Show

a.       A good show, but a lot of hard work without enough members to help set-up.

b.      The modules were allowed to be stored at the Hadji to speed up the set-up time for the PMRC Train Show the following weekend.

B.     NAS NATTC Holiday Party

a.       A very good show with sufficient help from members and Diane Ostrander for set-up.

b.      The only down-side was the layout did not operate as planned.

                                                               i.      Only ran in DC mode.

                                                             ii.      Had to jump a dead spot at the packing plant module.

                                                            iii.      By-passed the surge protectors

                                                           iv.      Need to investigate what happened and develop a set-up manual for the layout.

c.       The Navy students assisted in the take down and were very interested in the operation of the layout and trains.

C.      Reed now has replacement road crossing signals for the Hoffa cement plant corner module.

D.     Work on the Roundhouse module will be done at Bill’s Train Shed.

a.       Chip noted that he would be available on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings to work on the module.

E.      Work on Farm Module will be done at Chip’s home.

F.      Graphics for Trailer and PMRC Banner

a.       Chip presented some ideas for the text and font (art deco) to replace the banner and that could also be used for the side of the trailer (See Figure 1).

b.      The members discussed other ideas that included using the Blue Angel Blue as a background and Gold as a font color, incorporating a photo of the Frisco 2-8-2 “Pride of Pensacola”, a graphic of the Five-Flags over Pensacola and-or a graphic of the Blue Angels (see Figure 2).

c.       Chip will move forward with minimum graphics to work up three different quotes to create two banners with  grommets and graphics for the sides of the trailer.

G.     Bill obtained replacement tags for the trailer.

a.       Originally went to the N-scale Division, but they did not receive this information.

b.      Bill corrected the mailing address and the tag is good for 2 years.

c.       The N-Scale Division will be notified by Bill that there was an address change and we will keep the two tags separate.

d.      It was noted by Chip that this may still be a problem as the two divisions are incorporated as one corporation.

H.     The following members have paid or will pay for the Toys for Tots trains sets.

a.       The Club and Bill were recognized on the 6 o’clock news for donating the train sets.

 

V. New Business

A.     Jerry will move the trailer to his house to work on the power cabinet mounting the DCS200 and installing a fan.

B.     Jerry also wants to upgrade the wiring on the yard throat.

C.     The following members will be participating in the Foley Train Show.
