Minutes of the Business Meeting

August 11, 2015

The minutes were amended at the September 1, 2015 meeting and changes are shown in blue.

The business meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Secretary Chip Borona.

Officers attending: Treasurer Bill Little & Secretary Chip Borona.

Members: Jerry Dupont, Banks Edwards, Connor O’Brian, Sean O’Brian and Rick Simmons.

There were no guests in attendance.

I. Reading of the Minutes

        A. The minutes of the previous meeting July 7^th were read by Secretary Chip Borona.

             a.   The approval of the minutes were moved by Banks, seconded by Jerry and approved by the membership.

II. Treasurer’s Report

      A.     The Treasurer’s report was read by Bill Little with a current balance of $486.79.

            a.     The approval of the report was moved by Banks, seconded by Jerry and approved by the membership.

III. Announcements

     A.     The next business meeting will be held at 6:30PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Tuesday September 1^st 2015.

           a.       Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, then to stay after the meeting to run trains.

           b.      Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

     B.     The next run session will be at:

          a.       Bill’s Train Shed, Tuesday August 25^th at 6:00 PM.

                                                         i.      Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, before running trains.

                                                       ii.      Bill will leave the gate on the side street open

     C.     Update on Reed Ostrander

          a.        Sue & I went over to Tallahassee on Saturday 8-Aug-15 to visit Reed.  Spent about 3 hours talking about his current medical condition and the one month spent in Europe.

                 Overall, he is doing as well as can be expected.  On Monday 10-Aug-15, he was transferred to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tallahassee. The plan is to spend about 7 to 10 days and then get home.

          b.      See also email sent on August 11^th 2015.

IV. Old Business

      A.     Status of the roundhouse module construction.

          a.       Bill and Jerry have installed the internal supports of the Roundhouse.

          b.      Banks has provided a plywood base to mount the Roundhouse to facilitate removing and installing the finished structure.

          c.       The 130’ turntable has been installed with the screws provided.

     B.     Train Show Updates

          a.      The table below list the current members committed to the Wiregrass Model Railroad Show & Sale at Dothan AL, Friday Sept. 18^th to Sunday Sept. 20^th.

                                                               i.      The actual number of members who can do all the set-up / tear-down was discussed. Jerry and Chip have limited mobility, so the actual number who can lift and stand etc.,

                                     leaves about 4 members on Friday and Sunday.

                                                             ii.      Rick will ask if DJ can assist and Bill will see if any family members can help as well.

                                                            iii.      Right now the size of the layout is 12’ x 20’. We could go larger depending on the total number of people at the time of set-up.

          b.      Charles has confirmed by email that he is planning on supporting the Flomaton Railroad Junction Day on Saturday September 26^th 2015 and will provide a 4x8 Christmas layout.

                                                               i.      Chip also contacted Terry Tucker requesting if there was any interest in the N-Scale Division supporting this event.

                                                             ii.      Chip will contact Tippy Wagner (251-296-9055) to inform him of the current situation with the Club.

         c.       The table below list the current members committed to the Mobile Train Show on Friday Sept. 25^th to Sunday Sept.27^th.

          d.      The modules currently on the Club Trailer are:

                                                               i.      Reed has given permission to use his modules for the up-coming Train Shows. Arrangements will be made with Diane Ostrander to pick them up.

V. New Business

A.       Jerry will conduct a workshop on installing decoders.

B.        Subjects for September meeting.

C.        Reed will need to be contacted regarding the electrical plugs he has to complete the wiring of the Engine Service Module.
