Minutes of the Business Meeting

August 6, 2018

 

 

The business meeting was called to order at 6:23 pm by President Charles Tucker.

 

Officers attending were President Charles Tucker, Vice-President Steve Grenot, Secretary Chip Borona and Treasurer Bill Little.

Members attending were Howard Cowgill, Jerry Dupont, Jacob Navarro, Sean O’Brien, Reed Ostrander and Rick Simmons.

Guest in attendance pending membership was Clint Rodriguez.

 

 

I Reading of the Minutes

A.     The minutes of last month’s meeting were read by Reed.

1.       Sean made a motion to accept the Minutes of the Meeting, Steve seconded, and the minutes were approved by the membership.

II Treasurer’s Report

A.      The Treasurer’s report was read to the club by Bill reporting that the current balance is $790.61.

1.       Reed made a motion to accept the Treasure’s Report, Jacob seconded, and the report was approved by the membership.

 

III Announcements

A.      The next Business Meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at the Clubhouse on Monday September 10, 2018. Members can run trains before and after the meeting.

B.      The 1st Run Session will be held at 6:00pm at the Clubhouse on August 13,2018.

C.      The 2nd Run Session will be held at 6:00pm at the Clubhouse on August 27,2018.

 

At the monthly business meeting and run sessions Bill provides hot dogs & hamburgers with all the trimmings. You can also bring your own food to grill, a cover dish or desert. There will be drinks or BYOB. Members can arrive at 5:30 pm to grill and eat dinner. Please park and use the gate on the side street. Disabled members can use the gate at the front of the house.

All members are encouraged to RSVP the Host so they can anticipate the headcount.

 

IV Old Business

A.      Report on Engine Servicing Facility

1.       A shelf has been installed for the Zephyr power supply.

2.       The control panel for the Engine Servicing module will need to be re-made to match the updated layout.

a.       This will need to be completed by the time of the Interstate Fair.

B.      Gulf Division 4 Mini-Meet of Southeastern Region

1.       Reed handed out a flyer describing the schedule and events at the one day mini-meet.

2.       The mini-meet will start at 9:00 am on Saturday August 18, 2018 at the old L&N Station/Hotel.

3.       Cost for NMRA members $25 and $30 for non-members

C.      The Toys for Tots train sets are present and paid for.

 

V New Business

A.      Presentations for Future Meetings

1.       Chip offered to present a program on railroading in Pensacola.

2.       Charles suggested becoming involved in the W. Florida Leisure Learning Group. The group consists mostly of senior citizens and meets monthly to be involved in a wide variety topics.

a.       Reed offered presenting his European Tour by rail and an Introduction to the Hobby of Model Railroading.

B.      Suggestions for projects and programs for 2019.

1.       The members needed more time to consider their interests.

C.      What work needs to be done before the up-coming shows?

1.       The Bridge Module needs ballasting and the rails painted.

2.       The Power Cabinet needs to be completed.

3.       Painting clouds on the backboards.

4.       The next work day will be Saturday August 11, 2018 at Jerry’s around 9:30 am.

5.       The trailer will be packed at the next Business Meeting on Monday September 10, 2018.

a.       The business meeting will be at Jerry’s home at the usual times.

6.       Clint Rodriguez was presented to the Club for membership and voted in unanimously.

7.       Up-coming Train shows

a.       28th Annual Wiregrass Model Railroad Show

1)      Location - National Peanut Festival, 5622 Highway 231 South (5622 South Oates St) Dothan, Alabama

a)       Set-up on noon, Friday September 14th

b)      Show on Saturday, September 16th

c)      Show on Sunday, September 17th

d)      Tear-down immediately after the show.

2)      Hotel arrangements are each Club members responsibility

VI Club Welfare

A.      There is no new information on Banks to report.
